New Ferry Regeneration Project

In March 2022, Wirral Council appointed The Regenda Group as the preferred developer for the New Ferry Regeneration Project, to rebuild and revitalise the area with the creation of more than 70 new homes. Addressing more than housing needs, the project focuses on community development with a commitment to creating employment, training, and work experience opportunities locally. This includes apprenticeships supported by The Learning Foundry and work placements with partners.

Breaking ground at New Ferry!

In March 2024, we officially began work on phase one as M&Y Maintenance and Construction officially started construction on sites B and C – Boundary Road and Bebington Road.

We marked the ‘start on site’ with representatives from Wirral Council and Homes England, who’ve provided £1.9m funding towards the development of the new, affordable homes.

Phase 1 of the development will bring 34 new homes to the area – 20 apartments on Boundary Road and 14 apartments on Bebington Road. Homes will be available for affordable rent through Regenda Homes and Rent to Buy through Redwing.

Social Impact and Community Engagement

Our special guests of honour at the ‘start on site’ event were children from Grove Street Primary School who will be following the build through our Positive Footprints ‘Raising Aspirations Programme’.

We’ve been working with Placed Academy to deliver FREE workshops for 14- to 18-year-olds living in Wirral and Liverpool. The young people have been busy going on site analysis visits, building models, and learning about the role of community consultation in major developments like New Ferry.

Further Phases and Future High Streets Funding

Planning has been approved for phase 2 and construction is expected to begin in 2025 on Woodhead Street and part of New Chester Road.

Last year, Wirral Council secured £3.2 million in Future High Streets funding, earmarked for high street and highway improvements in New Ferry. This includes traffic calming measures, landscaping, additional CCTV, and a re-provided public car park.
