Our St Martins development has been shortlisted for Community Impact Project of the Year award at The Cowgills North West Homebuilder Awards!
We collaborated with M&Y Maintenance and Construction, Redwing and the Parish Church Council of Broughton to deliver affordable housing options and an energy-efficient new-build chapel and parish hall in Fulwood, Preston.
The development by M&Y Maintenance and Construction built 5 houses and 9 apartments for Rent to Buy through Redwing on unused land around the chapel.
We worked closely with the Parish to focus on the development’s social impact, organising volunteering days for M&Y staff to assist with planting and landscaping for the chapel building, making donations to local food banks, and promoting spending within the local supply chain. We also collaborated with local schools to introduce young people to careers in construction and regeneration.
These new homes are an affordable step onto the property ladder for local residents in an area where house prices are high.
The new energy-efficient chapel includes accessible facilities for the community and the new parish hall is regularly used by groups including a youth group, choir, knitting group, and a range of training courses and is open as a Warm Welcome Space each week.
Lauren Huggon, Project Manager at The Regenda Group said:
“We’re delighted to be shortlisted for this award! St Martins is a significant development for the local community in Fulwood, creating access to affordable Rent to Buy housing with a community focus. The impact of these much needed homes, newly built chapel and parish hall is amazing. It’s enriched the neighbourhood bringing many benefits to the area, including opportunities for local children, young people and adults.”
Canon Andrea, Titterington, Broughton PCC said:
“The quality of Regenda’s work and testimonies were outstanding. Our partnership has been positive, supportive, and productive throughout the 5-year project timescale, which included the COVID pandemic. M&Y undertook school workshops on construction which were valued by the parish school. Support was given to the Preston Food Bank, our move into the new building and the community planting day.
This has been a model of partnership, and the proof is in the quality of the end product for the Broughton Parish and Fulwood’s community.”
